Faith and Finances Class

The Faith & Finances Class beginning in April has been cancelled. For questions about future classes, please contact Lisa Veum.

Faith and Finances is different from many other financial education programs. It’s not about helping participants achieve wealth or material success. Rather, it aims to empower participants to experience restoration in their finances – and in their relationships. Participants discover how Jesus is reconciling all things – including their money – and how God is using their finances to accomplish His work in the world. They also learn to track income and expenses, save money, plan for emergencies, and pay off debt. At the same time, they receive support and encouragement from allies who walk alongside them as they learn.

If you have questions, email Lisa Veum at lisa.veum@yahoo.com.

Financial Peace University

Event Update: The April session has been cancelled. For a no in-person class option, please reach out to Kari or Mike. Fees apply. See details below.

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU) lays the entire foundation for handling money, and it’s the fastest, most streamlined way to get in control of your finances.  FPU provides a proven successful path to financial independence and is supported by biblical stewardship principles.  Learn how you can become a better financial steward of God’s gifts, pay off debt, save more money and build wealth.  FPU will change your habits so you can transform your money and your future.

It does not matter what life stage you are in, how old you are or how much (or little) you know about personal finances, this program is for you if:

  • You want to follow biblical principles when it comes to your finances.

  • You want to increase your knowledge of what the bible means by being a good financial steward.

  • You have felt like you just can’t get in control of your money.

  • You have credit cards, car loans, student loans or other debt that keeps you paying way too much money for way too long, while making others rich.

  • You desire financial freedom and peace.

There is a workbook, videos and individual consultation with this program (no in-person classes).  Fees apply.  If you are interested in more information about FPU, contact Kari or Mike Schneider at karischneider15@outlook.com or mikeschneider8@outlook.com.  You can also go to the Dave Ramsey website for more information (ramseysolutions.com).

Was the Universe Designed? Confessions of a Practicing Scientist: A Discussion with Steve Stratos

Confidence In Our Creator: Was the Universe Designed? Confessions of a Practicing Scientist

Have you ever wondered how, or even if, science and the Bible can come together? Come and join in the discussion with Steve Stratos and guest speaker, Scott Chambers, on Sunday, April 7, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. This is sure to be an engaging conversation between the scientific and the biblical!

Excerpt from Scott Chambers:
One of the greatest ironies of our day has to do with our view of the universe and our place in it. On one hand, there has never been a stronger perception that science has done away with “the God myth”. Yet, on the other hand, our accumulated knowledge of how the universe works has never pointed more strongly to there being a Master Designer and Creator. In these presentations, we will explore some of the inner workings of the universe at several length scales, ranging from the very small (atoms, molecules, and nuclei) to the very large (the cosmos itself), and including our planet and some biological organisms, including the human body. We will also present and illustrate an objective test to detect design. We will also look into the Scriptures to see what they say about the Creator, His attributes and His purposes in creation. A key application is that despite all the difficult circumstances in our world, He has the universe under control, from beginning to end. The evening presentation will include a mix of science and Scripture and will be more oriented toward believers. The goal is to encourage God’s people to trust Him with every aspect of their lives, since He has shown Himself to be all powerful and all wise as our Creator. The evening presentation will be almost all science and will present “origins science” as a critically important topic in Christian apologetics.

The Reliability of Scripture: A Discussion with Steve Stratos

The Historical, Cultural, and Personal Reliability of the Bible

Many people see the Bible as myth or legend. However, as a document of classical antiquity, the Bible has more parchments and documents than any other, with Homer’s Illiad, being a distant second. It has been the foundation of Western Civilization, human flourishing, and the basis for the American Constitution.

Come and join in the discussion with Steve Stratos on Sunday, March 3, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. This is sure to be an engaging review on the historical, cultural, and personal reliability of the Bible!

S.H.A.P.E Class

Discover your S.H.A.P.E.

God didn’t design ministry for just a few with seminary degrees. Here at Sisters Community Church, we believe that every member of our church is a minister. This is what this training is all about. This course is designed to assist believers to discover their SHAPE (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, experiences). Further, this class will mobilize you into your place of service.

As followers of Christ, we are each uniquely created and equipped in advance for His work: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

Therefore… come and Discover your SHAPE… learn how God has uniquely molded you to minister to others for Him.

What is S.H.A.P.E.?

S = Spiritual Gifts – This will show how God has gifted you.

H= Your Heart – This will show you what you love to do.

A= Your Abilities – This helps you recognize your natural talents and skills.

P= Your Personality – This shows how you are inclined to act/react in ministry.

E= Your Experiences and Interests – This shows where you have a passion to serve in ministry.

The SHAPE class begins Sunday, February 11. We would like to encourage you to register now at this link and mark your calendar for this 4-week class. One-hour classes will be held in the Fireside Room immediately before the service (8-9 a.m.).
