Rooted
Rooted will serve High School students for 3-4 weeks quarterly on Sunday mornings during the 10 a.m. service. Please meet at The Hangar at the beginning of service. Rooted is to allow students to connect with each other, have deep discussion in the scriptures, and be cultivated in their walk with Jesus. We will begin with some games, donuts, then hop into the scriptures. Here is what we will be covering this series:
Oct 26: Dustin will explore whether or not we can trust the Bible. We want to expose the lies the world says about scripture, while strengthening students' right beliefs towards the Bible.
Nov 2: Jonathan Martin will spend this time discussing with us, with Bibles open, what God's will for justice is both now and in the future. This will go into concepts of social justice, biblical justice, and what it looks like to live as the people of Jesus in the world.
Nov 9: Sexuality and the Gospel - This week Dustin will lead students through the scriptures about what the gospel has to say about our sexuality, sexual brokenness, and what this has to do with being "a holy people, a people for His own possession" (1 Peter 2:9). This will not be a time to explore a single type of sexual brokenness. In this time we want to explore and advocate for the traditional Christian sexual ethic taught by Jesus and how this leads us to Gospel living.
Nov 16: Jared Vogt will bring students through a discussion of Hell & God's judgment. This will not be a discussion around the views of hell, but the general concept of Hell and God's final judgment we see in the scriptures.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these subjects, what will be taught, or how, please contact Dustin Smith, dsmith@sisterschurch.com.
